Nyko’s line of charging stations for Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 now protected by patent
Los AngelesNyko Technologies, the #1 third party game accessories company, today announced it has been granted a US patent for its inventive systems for storing and charging video game controllers. Nyko was the first company to announce and market a controller charging dock starting with its Wii Charge Station in January 2007 and continues to innovate on its original design with popular controller charging docks for Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. As part of the process of protecting its patent, Nyko has today filed complaints against companies whose products infringe upon Nyko’s Intellectual Property.
“At Nyko our goal is to use technology and design to invent products that solve problems and enhance our everyday use of digital devices. We always ensure that our creative solutions are recognized and protected by law, and are proud to have been granted this patent by the United States as it is confirmation of our unique technology,” said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing, Nyko Technologies.
U.S. Patent No. 8,143,848 was granted to Nyko on March 27, 2012 and applies to video game controller charging systems that include, with other elements, a base to provide physical support for the system, and two or more docking bays on the base configured with opposing surfaces to receive and suspend the controllers while charging them through DC ports located conveniently between the surfaces. The patent will allow Nyko to protect its inventions in the event that other companies use Nyko’s technology without authorization to market similar products that infringe the patent.
Nyko today filed a patent infringement complaint against manufacturers and distributors of devices that infringe upon Nyko’s patent, including PDP (Performance Designed Products, LLC) and Energizer Holdings, Inc.
