Hey everyone!
We are pleased to announce that new model PlayStation®4 owners are now able to use 3.5” Hard Drives larger than 2TB in the Data Bank without any performance issues or having rest mode affected.
There are no modifications or alterations required to be able to use more than 2TB. However, there are a couple of requirements that you would need to meet in order to use more than 2TB with your Data Bank.
First, you need to make sure you own the newest model of the PlayStation®4. These models will start with CUH-1200 and above; the model information can be found on the underside of the PlayStation®4 or the bottom of the box (if you still have it). There is also another way to tell if you have the latest model by a couple of physical changes that have been made to the console. The new models all feature a complete matte finish as opposed to the older models which feature a matte finish and glossy cover for the hard drive bay. The newer models also features physical buttons for the power and eject functions while the older models have touch sensors for power and eject.
Second, you will need to be using the Universal Cartridge on the CUH-1200 series PlayStation®4 to be able to use the Data Bank. This cartridge is included in every Data Bank package moving forward.
If you happen to purchase a Data Bank and have the new PlayStation®4 but did not receive the Universal Cartridge, or have previously purchased a Data Bank and have upgraded to a new model, please reach out to our Customer Support so we can assist you with that issue.

Once you have confirmed the requirements above have been met, you will be able to use 3.5” Hard Drives higher than 2TB without rest mode being effected.
Please note that if you do not meet these requirements or have an older model PlayStation®4, we still recommended only using 3.5” hard drives up to 2TB when using the Data Bank.
The video below will go over the process of transferring files from your previous 2.5” Hard Drive.
